Compared to the OE T35 that came with the machine and the 0.095 line that is the largest you can use reliably in that head, This head with the 0.130 line rips through tall grass, wildflower stems, blackberry vines, ivy and more and lasts a long time. These tasks would eat the 0.095 line so quickly we needed multiple heads loaded to get through a day of weedwacking, especially in areas where the line would hit dirt/rocks or solid objects.
The larger line is also great for stripping the suckers off a redwood, the strip that I cleared on this trunk took less than a minute. Normally it takes my wife a few hours to do the whole base of the tree with hedge clippers and pruners.
The OE line that is shipped with the head doesn't have a core like the 0.130 Oregon Gatorline Supertwist that I will be re-spooling with, so I will update my review after I try that. I have also noted that the Husqvarna Titanium Force line that comes with the T35x is not at all durable compared to the Oregon 0.095 Gatorline so if this bears out with the larger line this thing is going to be unstoppable.
I should also note that the tap advance button is plastic but the spline portion is made of metal and seems very stout. It appears that the bearing could be replaced, there is an allen bolt visible where the spring seats.
Will update if I can after trying Oregon line.
UPDATE 4-Jun-25:
I refilled the first head with the Oregon 0.130 line mentioned above. It took about 25 feet which seemed like it was a bit too much. It didn't initially pass through the eyelets very easily because the amount of line on the spool didn't give it much room. Twice the line snapped off at the eyelets but that was early on when I was finishing the pictured redwood, and each time was shortly after snagging the line.
I suggest putting about 20 feet of this line in.
When I went back to high grass, berry vines, etc. the line held up incredibly well, rarely needing to be advanced unless I snagged it or got it into rocky dirt. I would say I was getting 3x the life out of the gatorline vs the line that ships with this head.
Unfortunately the head developed a crack before I switched to the Oregon line, right above the latch. Fortunately this part does not fail as often as the lower part that gets all of the abrasion, at least not with the T35. Hopefully this was a fluke. One pic shows it assembled, where the crack is hard to see, and the other shows it propped open so you can see it goes all the way through. It almost disappears when the shell is snapped together.
